The design
This beautiful project, A Homecoming in Kilkenny, was designed by Liz Druham of South Hill Studio for an American couple fulfilling a long-held dream of moving to Ireland and reconnecting with their family roots. Although the house was a new build, the objective was to create a home that felt warm, welcoming, and full of character from the moment the owners arrived. Through a carefully layered palette of natural materials, soft colours, antique finds, and locally sourced Irish pieces, the interiors achieve a timeless feel that reflects the clients' love of nature, travel, and gathering with family and friends.
Liz invited me to photograph the completed project as part of a full-day interior photography session, delivering 20 professionally edited images that showcase the home's atmosphere, craftsmanship, and carefully considered details. Throughout the day, my focus was on capturing the flow of the spaces, the quality of natural light, and the relationship between materials and textures. Images like this kitchen demonstrate how thoughtful design transforms a new-build into a home that feels established, personal, and effortlessly connected to its surroundings.
